Agricultural areas in Ain Issa risk drying out as the Turkish state reduces the water flowing through the Euphrates River.
The occupant Turkish state keeps reducing the amount of water flowing into North and East Syria through the Euphrates River. The water coming from the Euphrates River provides electricity and drinking water in the region. The decrease in the water level poses a serious danger to the agricultural fields in the region.
The decrease in the water of the Euphrates River is causing many canals in the region to dry out. The water provided by pump has also decreased. There are even wells that do not give water at all. If things go on like this, crops of the villages east of Ain Issa will dry out in the summer. Farmers produce their crops through the Refi channel. In the east of Ain Issa, crops such as cotton and yellow corn are planted in summer.
The fields in the Heshe town and villages of Ain Issa receive water through the Refi pump in Til Seman. This pump supplies water to 16 thousand hectares. Xenzir, Til Seman and the villages north of Raqqa also receive water through the Refi pump.
90 percent of the citizens in Ain Issa and Raqqa earn their living through agriculture. In summer, pump and well water is used.
