At least 27 ISIS members captured in the ongoing operation in Hol Camp

As the operation launched by the North and East Syrian Internal Security Forces to eliminate the ISIS threat in the Hol Camp marks its second day, at least 27 ISIS members have been captured and four tunnels have been uncovered.

On August 24, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria launched the second phase of the Humanitarian and Security Operation against ISIS in the Hol Camp in Hesekê, northern Syria.

The Internal Security Forces are carrying out the operation with the support of the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), YPJ (Women’s Defense Units) and YPG (People’s Defense Units). Search operations on the first day were launched in the first section of the Iraqi refugees.

The Internal Security Forces are chasing ISIS cells that hide out among the camp residents.

According to the Internal Security Forces, the ISIS terrorist cells and families in the camp carried out 43 terrorist acts this year, killing and executing 44 residents, including 14 women and 2 children, using guns, silenced pistols, and sharp objects, after torturing the victims and throwing their bodies in the sewage.

On the second day of the operation, 27 ISIS members are reported have been captured in the first section where Iraqi refugees stay.

In the same area, 4 tunnels dug by ISIS members were also found. The Security Forces began to fill the tunnels.

Considered a ticking time bomb, the Hol Camp poses a threat to both its residents and the entire region.

54,390 migrants and refugees stay in the Hol Camp, including 27,816 Iraqis, 18,483 Syrians, and 8,911 members of ISIS families.
