Sources in Afrin report that civilians in the Rajo district’s villages have been subjected to atrocities by the Firqat Al Hamzat gangs. Some families in the villages are targeted in particular based on reports ENKS-affiliated operatives have prepared.
People in the Kolya Jorîn, Kolya Jerîn and Berbene villages, who are subjected to atrocious practices of the Firqat Al Hamzat gangs every day, are living under very harsh conditions. Villagers are regularly abducted by gangs, held for ransom for large sums of money and their homes are pillaged by gang members.
On August 18, the Firqat Al Hamzat gangs raided civilian Xelîl Henan Davud’s home and attempted to confiscate his tractor. Davud refused to give up his tractor, and was tortured for it. Davut lost his life after suffering a cardiac arrest due to the torture.
His family’s woes continued. On August 22 (yesterday), the gangs raided the family home and arrested son Izzet Xelîl Davud and Henan Xelîl Davud, as well as their uncle Faik Davud. 3 tractors the family owned have been confiscated by the gangs.
Local sources say all 3 abducted civilians have been subjected to severe torture and one of their hands is broken.
Same sources say Izzet and Henan brothers have been released after intense torture, but the uncle Faik is still detained and that the gangs are asking for one million Syrian Liras to release him.
Sources in Afrin also report that the gangs confiscate the abductees’ phones and villagers are not allowed to use phones.
