Artillery attacks on the town of Zirgan in northern Syria injured a civilian on Sunday. The man, who sustained a minor head injury as a result of the bombardment, is being treated at a clinic in the center of Zirgan. He is from the village of Tel Al-Ward, located about five kilometers south of Zirgan.
Surrounding villages, including in Esediyê (Assadiyah) and Rebîat (Rub'at), were also put under artillery fire by Turkish jihadist occupation forces. There is talk of massive property damage in many places. It is unclear whether other people were injured. The bombardment continues in isolated cases.
Strategic position of Zirgan
Zirgan (ar. Abu Rasen) is located about thirty kilometers east of the city of Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain), which has been fully occupied since October 2019, and lies on the edge of a connecting road between the strategic transport routes 712 and M4. It is just under 25 kilometers from Zirgan to the town of Til Temir, which Turkey also wants to incorporate into its illegal occupation zone. The town is regularly the focus of the occupation forces.
