The co-chair of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration Executive Council, Hemdan El-Ebid, warned of the disasters that will occur if the water from the Euphrates continues to be cut off.
Talking about Turkey's plans in Syria, El Ebid told ANHA: "The Turkish state's plans have been clear since the onset of the war in Syria. Turkey opened its borders to terrorist groups, and thousands of foreign mercenaries entered Syrian territory and attacked the region."
Pointing out that Turkey does not want the problems in Syria to be resolved in order to continue its own plans, El Ebid added that Turkey wants to destroy all democratic projects. El Ebid said that the attacks on the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous region and the occupation of Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê are proof that Turkey wants to expand its occupation.
Turkey benefits from both its overlapping interests with Russia and its relations with the United States. El Ebid said that the US does not want Turkey to get closer to Russia because it is a NATO member and added that Turkey wants to persuade Russia to leave Idlib.
El Ebid said: “We can cite some of the crimes carried out by Turkey: abduction of Syrian citizens and their trial in Turkish courts, reduction of the water from the Euphrates River and the water supply to the people of Hesekê. These crimes are against international laws and rules.”
El Ebid criticized the government of Damascus for not reacting to the reduction of water from the Euphrates River and for keeping silent about the crimes against Syrian citizens.
El Ebid called on the international community to put pressure on Turkey and prevent further crimes which will badly affect both the people and the economic situation of the region.
