The Canton of Girê Spî, together with Raqqa Civil Assembly, opened a camp on 22 November for the people displaced from Girê Spî.

No international aid for the camp

In the camp, 100 tents were established in the first place. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria continues its efforts to address the needs of migrants in the camps such as blankets, children's clothes, heating, drinking water and infrastructures. Since the camp was established, no international humanitarian organization has provided any assistance or support for immigrants.

Saying that they meet the basic needs of immigrants, Girê Spî Migrants Camp co-chair Fedye Şerif told ANHA that currently 35 families are staying in the camp and 200 more families will settle there in the coming days.

"Most of the immigrant families live in difficult conditions in school buildings or in their relatives' homes", said Fedye Şerif, who called on international organizations to help refugees.

Girê Spî migrant Zelîxa Mihemed said that they went to Raqqa after they were forced to leave their house and added: "We came to the camp because the house rents were very high. The camp administration has provided us with tents, blankets and heaters."

Ferhan Mehmûd from the village of El-Terbîx in Girê Spî said that the administration is working to meet the needs of the refugees.

Saying that they want to return to their homes, the displaced people urged the international community to put pressure on the Turkish state to end the invasion attacks on northern and eastern Syria.
