The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria issued a written statement regarding the invasion attacks of the Turkish state against Shengal and Zirgan.
The statement said: “The Turkish state, which wants to implement the Ottoman project in the Middle East, continues to trample all international law. What happened in Shengal is the continuation of the crimes that ISIS left unfinished. With these attacks, the Turkish state also showed that it does not recognize Iraq's sovereignty rights.”
The statement continued: “As always, the people of Shengal resisted these attacks aimed at breaking the will of the Yazidis. The peoples of Shengal protected the Shengal Autonomous Administration.”
The statement also underlined that “the ongoing attacks of the Turkish state against Til Temir and its villages are not independent of each other. The purpose of these attacks is destruction. Turkey cannot tolerate that the people of the region govern themselves voluntarily.”
The statement ended with the following remarks: “We strongly condemn the hostile approach of the Turkish state. We call on the people of Shengal to unite around the Autonomous Administration. The Iraqi state has the power to stop these attacks. We hope that these attacks, which violate the sovereignty of Iraq, will be stopped. Russia and the international coalition forces should also take action against the attacks on civilians in Til Temir.”
