The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria issued a statement in which it said underlined that “two years have passed since the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi. In two years, there were violations and practices that were far from any respect for human rights. Under the coordination of Turkey, mercenary and extremist organizations attacked Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, shattering the region's stability and security. They had previously occupied Afrin for the same purpose.
Turkey wants to destroy stability
The statement added: “The violations carried out by mercenaries in occupied areas plainly show Turkey's goal to destroy the region's stability and the democratic structure of the people. Additionally, the Turkish state's goal in Syria is to prevent agreements between the parties and makes the occupation permanent. Some organizations are mistaken in believing that the occupation is exclusively for one region and has a limited impact. This is the enemy's invasion strike on Syria as a whole. To be loyal to Syria's national principles, we and everyone must understand that an assault of a part of Syria is an invasion of Syria as a whole. What is required of us is the unification of the occupied regions through their liberation.”
The statement continued: “The silence of the international community, the United Nations, the International Coalition, the Russian and Damascus governments in particular, validates what the Turkish state and its mercenaries have done in the occupied territories. The Turkish state continues to devastate Syria, fragment Syrian society, and impose policies that are detrimental to the Syrian people's interests. The Turkish government's assertion that it supports national security, stability, and the opposition forces in Syria is an attempt to conceal their unfriendly approach towards Syria. All national forces, as well as the world community, must be aware of the dangers faced by Syrian people. Turkey's support for terrorism and the aim to resurrect ISIS, in particular, have resulted in the Turkish state gathering thousands of ISIS mercenaries fleeing Syria under the guise of the Syrian National Army.”
The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria declared that “the Turkish state's occupation of our territories, as well as other Syrian regions supporting terrorism and embracing the so-called Syrian opposition, represents a problem for Syria. If the violations and crimes committed by the invading Turkish state and its mercenaries are not addressed, stability in Syria will not prevail.
We tell the entire world that the Turkish state intends to destabilize the region through its demographic change program, push forced migration, and re-establish the Ottoman project. For this reason, we urge the international community's institutions, including the UN, the EU, Russia, and Damascus' government, to refrain from calculating against Syria and its people in accordance with their particular interests with Turkey.
We assure our people in Northern and Eastern Syria, particularly those who were displaced from their homes in Serêkaniyê, Girê Spî, and Afrin, that we stand by them and will fight until the region is liberated and a dignified return is secured. On this day, we commemorate our brave martyrs and injured who defended their homelands against the Turkish state and its mercenaries. We promise to follow in their footsteps in order to achieve our people's goals and the democratic revolution's victory."
