Şiler Committee for Children launched a campaign called “Our children are the hope for the future” in order to protect children against all kinds of violence. The campaign was announced at a press conference held in front of Qamishlo People’s Municipality office with the participation of tens of children.
Children participating at the press conference carried photos of the kids killed and injured in the attacks by the invading Turkish state. The statement was read in Arabic and Kurdish by Silva Şexmus, a member of Şiler Committee for Children.
The statement said: “Children are the future and hope of humanity. From birth, every child has the right to lead a free life under liveable conditions. This right should be protected until the children become adults.
The Şiler Committee for Children, are launching a campaign called “Our children are the hope for future” aimed at protecting children against violence, child abuse and marriage at an early age.
Children face war and poverty in the Middle East and the entire world every day. Currently, some regions in Northern and Eastern Syria are under occupation. Invasion attacks and migration conditions adversely affect children and endanger their lives. As a consequence of the attacks, children are injured, suffer psychological problems or lose their lives.
Thousands of children were forced to migrate from their homeland. We should protect our children against all kinds of violence and guarantee a free and equal life for them.
We call on UNICEF and all children’s rights organisations to defend children against the invasion claiming children’s lives.”
The campaign will continue in various regions until October 23.
