14 civilians and two YPG fighters lost their lives on the first and second day of the Turkish army’s invasion operation against civilian settlements in Afrin.
Early Monday morning, thousands gathered in front of the Avrin Hospital where the dead bodies were held. After receiving the bodies, the mass started a march, chanting “Revenge”, “Martyrs are immortal”, Long Live Leader Apo”, and “Long Live Afrin resistance”.
After the mass reached the funeral grounds, Afrin Canton Co-president Mustafa Hesen and Institution of Martyrs’ Families administrator Şaziye İbrahim held speeches.
Afrin Canton Co-president Mustafa Hesen responded to the Turkish state portraying civilians it has massacred as YPG fighters. He said; “Let Erdogan come and look at the children he has killed. We will stay in our land till the last drop of blood.”
Institution of Martyrs’ Families administrator Şaziye İbrahim stressed that; “Your games will not make us give up on this cause. We will defend our land until the end. We condemn Russia. Are you hostile to us because our children have finished off ISIS?”
Following the speeches, martyrs were laid to rest in Afrin and Shehna cemeteries of martyrs.
