Hundreds of civilians who fled ISIS occupied territory and reached safe areas say they are happy they are free from the terrorists.
5.257 families, a total of 18.721 civilians, mostly from Deir ez-Zor have reached the Hawl Camp with help from SDF fighters.
Civilians rescued from ISIS terrorists spoke to ANHA about their happiness.
Fatma Xelil from the Kemsha town said: “We saw nothing but torture, hunger and death at the hands of ISIS.” Fatma added that the gangs didn’t allow their children to receive treatment when they fell sick.
Fatma said they are happy the SDF fighters rescued them and called on humanitarian aid organizations to support them.
Ayse Mihemed from the Sousse town said: “We are happy that we are safely in the Autonomous Administration territory. When we arrived, the camp administration and Heyva Sor a Kurd helped us with food and clothing, but we also need tents. It’s cold outside and our children are falling sick.”
Mihedi Salih from Deir ez-Zor said: “We escaped our lands for the safety of our children. We went through horrible tyranny. Now we are in a safe and peaceful area. But we couldn’t bring anything with us. We want aid organizations to provide tents for us.”
Kirha Umer from Hajin said their vital needs are very limited and that they don’t have tents or heaters.
Hol Camp administrator Mihemed Ehmed Eli said the following about the condition of the camp: “There are over 18.000 new migrants in the camp. Before we didn’t have many issues in the camp, but with the increase in population caused trouble in procuring tents and other needs. Right now we have tents for 5.000 people and that is not enough.”
Eli called on aid organizations and said: “We are in winter, so we are calling on humanitarian organizations to urgently offer tents and humanitarian aid.”
