The resistance of the YPJ and SDF fighters, who have been fighting relentlessly to protect the Tishrin Dam following the attacks by the Turkish state and the Syrian National Army (SNA), continues. SDF commander Mordem Kobanê has been in Tishrin since the day the attacks began. He went there on 7 December 2024 to resist the attacks by the Turkish state. He said: "With the collapse of the Assad regime, extraordinary developments took place. This situation led to changes in the region. However, these changes undoubtedly increased the threats to the people of Northern and Eastern Syria. We took action within the framework of the necessary precautions against these threats. As SDF-YPJ forces, we made all kinds of preparations. Therefore, we first moved to the Der Hafir region.

Then, the attacks by the Turkish state and its proxies on the Manbij, Tishrin and Qereqozax regions began. In order to disrupt the Turkish state's invasion plans, we split into two groups. Some of us took action to strengthen the Tishrin and Qereqozax line as reinforcements. When we reached Tishrin, the air strikes by the Turkish state and the attacks carried out by its proxies began simultaneously. While we were strengthening our positions on the one hand, we also responded to the attacks by the invading proxies on the other. The distance between us and the gangs was quite short. Therefore, there were heavy clashes. All our friends fought and stopped the enemy. From the first day, we stated that we would not allow the gangs to pass, and we acted with this determination."

Strong bond between fighters and people

Commander Kobanê is known for his experience of military tactics and command skills. After the gangs' heavy attacks, SDF-YPJ fighters launched a major rescue operation in the regions controlled by the invaders. After the villages and regions were liberated from the occupation, Kobanê was assigned as the front commander. During this long process, relentless resistance was carried out around the villages south and east of Manbij. The attacks by the invading gangs from the village of Kişlî to the Syriatel hill were neutralized one by one. In this process, commander Kobanê played a critical role. Whenever a gang attack started, he immediately took action, provided coordination and managed the process meticulously. He clearly showed how experienced and determined he was at neutralizing the enemy and intervention methods.

On 10 January 2025, the Turkish proxies launched an attack on the positions of the SDF-YPJ fighters. However, the fighters thwarted these attacks. Commander Mordem Kobanê addressed his fighters with the following words: "This resistance has changed the fate of our people. From this day on, we will achieve a great victory. Berxwedan Jiyan e..."

In the midst of this unique and meaningful resistance at the Tishrin Dam, a strong spiritual bond had formed between the heroic fighters and the people of Northern and Eastern Syria. This bond reflects the spirit of the Rojava Revolution.

What we have witnessed is that as the resistance grows, the gangs will be defeated.
