Residents in the Migrant Camp in the Ayn Îsa district of the Girê Spî Canton see worsening conditions with the winter season coming in. The migrants stay in old tents where they are affected by the rain and sandstorms.
WINTER AGGRAVATES THE SUFFERING
Though in other places the winter season is seen as bringing prosperity with the rains, that doesn’t ring true for the migrants in the Ayn Îsa camp. The tents are old and torn, and let the rainwater inside.
Migrants say the situation keeps getting worse, the children are facing contagious disease, and that they have no medicine for the children’s colds.
Fatime Ebdullah, migrated from Deir ez-Zor, says she would like a tent, even if it was torn. She has been in the camp for a week, and she has been staying out in the land along with 14 members of her family.
There are over 100 families without tents, and a total of 23 thousand migrants in the Ayn Îsa camp.
