Living with the memories of his daughter Rûxweş, who fell a martyr killed by the KDP, Şevket Henan said that treason must be eradicated altogether.
The father of guerrilla Rûxweş, who fell a martyr in an ambush carried out by the KDP in 1997, said: “Since the beginning, they have been betraying other Kurds and have sided with their Kurdish enemies. We will never forget this betrayal."
Ruxweş Sevket Mihemed, known as Necbir among the guerrillas, was born in the village of Şitka in Afrin in 1973. Her family got involved with the Kurdish Freedom Struggle in 1983. The patriotism of her family meant that Necbîr was intertwined with the freedom struggle at a young age. In 1989, when she was only 16 years old, she started to do some work for the movement.
She worked in and around Aleppo for 4 years, and also gave training to the people. After studying at Mahsum Korkmaz Academy, she went to the guerrillas in 1993. Necbîr fought in Botan and Besta for a while, and fell a martyr in 1997 in an ambush set up by the KDP in the Bergare region of Garê.
She could do any job
Şevket Henan said that in 1983, when they got involved with the freedom movement, a new period started in their lives.
Şevket Henan Mihemed said that Necbîr was “very happy and always smiling. She ran everywhere, she was always busy with something. She was determined. She would criticize if she saw a mistake. She was smart and hardworking. She was trying to improve herself in everything. She could do any job.”
Mihemed said that Necbîr struggled for freedom even when she was 14 years old and added: “It was the olive harvest period. One day she said to me, 'If you give me a bucket of olives a day, I will come to collect olives with you'. When I asked her what he would do with the olive, she said, ‘I will help the struggle.’ She was so inquisitive and interested in the struggle. One day she came home with her friends and said she wanted to join the guerrillas. When our friends asked us, 'Do you agree?', we said yes. We sent Rûxweş away with enthusiasm. I hugged Rûxweş and put my hand on her back; I bid you farewell by saying, 'Good luck, good bye'."
Şevket Henan stated that the KDP has been betraying other Kurds from the very beginning and added: "They continue their betrayal and work with the Turkish state. The KDP says, as long as the Turkish state exists, we exist."
Emphasizing that treason can only end with the elimination of those carrying out the betrayal, Şevket Mihemed said: “Betrayal is unacceptable. We will never forget this betrayal and the betrayers. We must stand against betrayal."
Referring to the action launched in Rojava to demand the recovery of the bodies of the guerrillas killed by the KDP in an ambush in Xelîfan, Şevket Henan Mihemed said: “The families protested for 4 months to retrieve the bodies. But the KDP didn't even care. They behaved as if nothing happened. What can those who do not care about the pain of Kurdish mothers give to the Kurds?"
