The brother of guerrilla Berbang, who fell a martyr following the 1992 KDP treason war, said: “They continue to betray Kurdistan. But they should not forget that these people will not bow down to them."
Ehmed, the brother of Afrin guerrilla Mihemed Sido, who fell a martyr in the attack launched by the KDP forces against the guerrillas in 1992, called on the Kurdish diaspora to stand against betrayal and occupation.
Mihemed Muslim Sido was known as Berbang among guerrillas. He was born in 1971 in Afrin/Raco. While working in Damascus in 1989, he got involved with the freedom struggle. After working in the region for two years, he studied at Mahsum Korkmaz Academy. Then, he joined the guerrillas. Berbang fell a martyr in the South betrayal war in 1992.
Ehmed Muslim Sido said of his brother: “Even in his childhood, he was very interested in what was going on around him. He worked constantly and immediately won the love of his friends and neighbours. He was ambitious and hopeful. He was younger than us, but he could see things better than us.”
Ehmed Muslim added: “He was at school. By the ninth grade, he was forced to join the Baath party. However, he did not accept this and left school. He worked at a restaurant in Damascus for a year and a half. There he began to get involved with the freedom struggle and started to carry out some work. He was in Lebanon in 1991. Then he went to Bashur Kurdistan. He was now fighting in the mountains of Kurdistan. He joined the guerrillas with 7 of his friends from the village. As far as I know, 5 of them fell as martyrs."
Ehmed Muslim said that he was arrested by the Baath regime when they received the news of martyrdom and added: “After the news of martyrdom came, there would be a commemoration. However, the Baath regime took me and my father into custody and took us to the political branch of the police. We were in custody for three days. When my brother’s martyrdom was announced, we were not there. The Baath left us three days later. They forced us to cancel the condolences gathering. We told them 'it's okay' but we didn't do it in practice."
Muslim said: “My brother was killed by the KDP. We condemn them. The KDP must decide which side it is on. Will it stand with our enemy MHP and Erdogan, or will it stand with us? We appeal to them for the unity of the peoples. We tell them to stop collaborating with the enemy. However, they still continue to betray the Kurds and Kurdistan. The KDP must and will give an account of these martyrs.”
'We will not give up'
Muslim drew attention to the action that the families of the Rojava martyrs started at the Semalka Border Gate to retrieve the bodies of the guerrillas who fell martyr in Xelîfan, and said: “Did we bow down to them while we were protesting in Semalka? We wanted the bodies of our sons. They should not think that we will give up on asking for our sons’ bodies and our just cause. We will never bow to the KDP and its partner, the Turkish state. We will always be on our feet. We will reach our goal. We will never abandon the cause of our martyrs and our Leader.”
Muslim also called out to the Kurdish diaspora: “I am calling out to all the Kurdish people and Kurds in the diaspora. Let's stand against this occupation and collaboration. How long will the Kurds be massacred?"
