The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a lockdown on April 13 to stem coronavirus (COVID-19) spread. The Environmental Directorate of Dirbêsiyê People's Municipality started disinfection and cleaning services on the main streets and avenues in the district as part of the measures introduced to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Zêdan Nûh, one of the directors of the Environmental Directorate, said that "Following the lockdown in northern and eastern Syria, we started to carry out disinfection and cleaning services in three phases."
According to latest data announced on Tuesday by Dr. Ciwan Mistefa, co-chair of the Health Committee of the Autonomous Administration, 14,281 cases of coronavirus have been registered in the region. While 469 of those infected have died, 1,456 have recovered.
