Euphrates Region Administration: The international community must stop this war

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Region condemned the Iraqi army's attacks on Şengal as a new genocidal campaign against the Yazidis and called on the international community to fulfill its duties.

In response to the attacks on the Yazidi town of Şengal, the Euphrates Region Democratic Autonomous Administration Executive Council issued a statement in front of the Kobanê Assembly building. The message was read by Nîhad Ehmed, Co-Chair of the Executive Council.

The statement condemning the Iraqi army's attacks on Şengal referred to the attacks as "a new genocidal campaign against the Yazidis."

"This war reminds us of ISIS' horrific war against the Yazidis.  At the time, the KDP and the Iraqi army abandoned the Yazidis to face ISIS groups. ISIS slaughtered the people of Şengal, raped women, and sold them in markets."

The statement urged the Iraqi army, which has been prepared for a long time against the Yazidi community, not to be misled by the invading Turkish state's machinations.

"Thousands of people are under siege in Şengal, where they face the most horrific genocides of the twenty-first century. The world community must put an end to this war.”
