French delegation visits North-East Syria

The delegation is visiting North-East Syria to closely examine its model, stating that the system offers important gains in terms of women's rights and inter-component coexistence.

A delegation from France is visiting the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to assess developments in the region.

The delegation includes Sylvie Jean, Honorary President of the France-Kurdistan Friendship Association; Emily Luc, Member of Parliament for Seine-Saint-Denis and member of the French Communist Party; Michel Laurent, Director of International Projects; and Rosa Mousavi, journalist for the communist newspaper L'Humanité.

The French delegation was received by Hisên Osman and Evîn Siwêd, Co-Chairs of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration. During the meeting, the parties discussed the political process in Syria and the current situation. The importance of dialogue as the fundamental method for resolving issues was emphasized.

The Autonomous Administration officials provided the delegation with information on political and economic developments in the region, as well as on the functioning of the Autonomous Administration model.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Sylvie Jean stated that they were in the region to closely examine this model and emphasized that the system offers important gains in terms of women's rights and inter-component coexistence. Sylvie Jean also drew attention to the role assumed by the Autonomous Administration in the reconstruction of the region cleared of ISIS.

During the visit, ways to increase international support for the Autonomous Administration and opportunities for cooperation were also discussed.

The France-Kurdistan Friendship Association (AFK) was established in Paris in 2013 to show solidarity with the Kurdish people following the assassination of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan, and Leyla Şaylemez.
