Families of martyrs in Rojava: We stand with the hunger strike resistance

Members of the Qamishlo Council of Martyrs’ Families protested the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and expressed that they stand with hunger strike resistance in prisons of Turkey and Kurdistan.

The isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan by the occupant Turkish state for 22 years continues despite worldwide reactions and protests. Demanding an end to the isolation of Öcalan and ever-increasing rights violations in Turkey’s jails, political prisoners went on an indefinite-rotating hunger strike on 27 November 2020.

As the massive action in prisons across Turkey continues with determination, members of the Qamishlo Council of Martyrs’ Families spoke to ANHA and stated that they support the resistance of prisoners.

‘WE WILL FRUSTRATE THE CONSPIRACIES’

Father of martyr Mezlum Bagok, Zeki Sado said, “We, as families of martyrs, stand with the resistance in prisons. We will do our best in the streets and frustrate their conspiracies. Kurdish people should keep the hunger strike on the agenda and everyone should do their part for the freedom of leader Öcalan.”

‘OUR RESISTANCE WILL CONTINUE’

The wife of Martyr Nur Din İbrahim, Necah Gulo said, “Prisoners are our honour. We will continue to support them with actions in the streets. We, too, must struggle for the guerrilla’s offensive to succeed. The Turkish state resorts to every vicious way against the Kurdish people. We will never surrender to the Turkish state which evidently attacks the civilians. Unfortunately, the international community keeps silent and becomes accomplice to these crimes through their silence.”
