The Assembly of Martyrs’ Families in the Euphrates Region of North-East Syria will launch a 7-day solidarity hunger strike in Kobanê tomorrow.
Kurdish political prisoners in Turkey and North Kurdistan launched an indefinite-alternating hunger strike on November 27th demanding an end to the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the inhuman detention conditions experienced in prisons across the country.
While the hunger strike action of prisoners continues on day 37, receiving increasing solidarity from outside, the Assembly of Martyrs’ Families in the Euphrates Region of North-East Syria will launch a 7-day solidarity hunger strike tomorrow, Sunday.
Arif Bali from the executive board of the Assembly of Martyrs’ Families stated that the solidarity hunger strike will be started in a tent to be set up at the Martyr Egid Square in Kobanê city center on January 3rd.
Bali noted that their action seeks to give the message ‘Enough is enough’ in response to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and the Turkish regime’s increasingly ongoing political genocide operations against the Kurdish population.
