Fehime Hemo: Migration is not a solution

Fehime Hemo indicated that the Turkish state deceives and encourages the youth to migrate, and addressed the youth, stressing that migration is not a solution.

Hate discourse and racist attacks against the Syrians living in Turkey continue to increase. Syrian youth who try to cross into Turkey to arrive at Europe are constantly exposed to torture by Turkish soldiers.

Fehime Hemo, member of the Syrian Democratic Council Co-Presidency Committee, spoke to ANHA about the consequences of migration which -she said- cannot resolve the problems of the youth, pointing out the conflict of the interests of grand states in Syria.

‘The Turkish state uses refugees as a means of blackmail’

Underlining that the Turkish state provokes the youth to migrate, Fehime Hemo said, “This is not a new policy.  The Turkish state intends to evacuate Syrian lands and extend the invasion. Building new camps in Turkey, it encourages young people to become refugees. These attempts are not for the sake of the youth. The Turkish state uses refugees as a means of blackmail.”

To extend and perpetuate the invasion, the Turkish state has been changing the demographical structure of the region, said Hemo.

‘The most dangerous migration: Brain drain’

Defining brain drain as the most dangerous kind of migration, Hemo continued, “The Turkish state regards the youth as a threat against its plans. Youth is the dynamism of society. This is why the occupiers intend to lead them into migration.”

Hemo pointed out the silence of the international community and stressed that this silence encourages the Turkish state.

“The young people who intend to cross into Turkey from Syria are exposed to torture by Turkish soldiers. Both displacement and killing serve the same purpose; the Turkish state aims to depopulate the region. While opening the borders to hundreds of thousands of ISIS gangs, the Turkish state was not considering the security of borders. But now, it tortures Syrian youth on the grounds of border security,” Hemo said.

Expressing that the Turkish state uses refugees as a means of blackmail against Europe, Hemo added, “Hate discourse and racist attacks against the refugees in Turkey are on the increase. They aim to make the Syrians accept slavery.”

On the other hand, the Turkish state uses the refugee youth as gangs to fight in various places of the world, and the Damascus government, too, has a responsibility for this scheme, remarked Hemo.

Indicating that wrong policies of the Damascus government lead the youth to migrate from Syria, Fehime Hemo said, “The youth should know that there is no place safer than their country. They can find nothing but racism wherever they go. Migration cannot resolve the problems we have been facing. The youth should be aware of this fact. The Autonomous Administration establishes new business fields. Our youth should benefit from these employment opportunities.”
