Fırat Tûma, who was killed along with Qamishlo Canton co-chair Yusra Darwish and her deputy Liman Shiwesh in the Turkish state's drone attack on 20 June, was laid to rest.
Dozens of people attended the farewell ceremony held at the Chaldean Mar Yaqub El Nasibini church, as well as representatives of Syriac and Chaldean institutions, Cizre Autonomous Administration and Qamishlo Martyrs' Families Council.
After the mass, the funeral convoy went to the Chaldean cemetery in the Siyahi neighbourhood of Qamishlo. Syriac Unity Party co-chair Nezire Gewriye said in her speech that the daily attacks carried out by the Turkish state against the region aim to create chaos and fear among the people of the region.
Autonomous Executive Council co-chair Vivian Beho Osê also conveyed her condolences to the families of the martyrs and said: "The invading Turkish state continues its attacks. The attacks increased especially after the Autonomous Administration announced that it would prosecute ISIS gangs. These trials will reveal the secret hands that support this organization."
Noting that they will continue their struggle to protect the gains achieved, Vivian Beho Osê called on the international community to fulfil its responsibilities to put an end to the terrorist attacks by the Turkish state.
After the speeches, the martyrdom certificate was read by the Assyrian Martyrs' Families Council.
