Deir ez-Zor Military Council Spokeswoman Lilwa El Ebdullah spoke to ANHA on the 7th anniversary of the establishment of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which was announced on October 15, 2015. Lilwa El Ebdullah emphasized that the SDF represented all components in North and East Syria, including the Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and Turkmen.
“The founding purpose of the SDF is to protect North and East Syria from all internal and external attacks and to establish the brotherhood of the peoples. Thanks to the SDF, the region was liberated from ISIS. From Kobanê to Baxoz, the SDF achieved gains and victories. These areas have been liberated thanks to the SDF fighters who sacrificed themselves for the peace and security of North and East Syria,” El Ebdullah said.
El Ebdullah warned that although the military presence of ISIS has been eradicated, its secret cells are still active in the North and East Syrian regions. She added that they were determined to remove mercenary groups and secret cells that attempt to disrupt the peace and security of the region.
“I respectfully commemorate all our martyrs who helped liberate our regions with their blood. Moreover, I congratulate the women who played a major role in the liberation of the North and East Syrian regions. They taught us how to fight ISIS and the enemies by taking their place on the front lines. Since the beginning of the revolution, women have made major achievements. They got rid of the patriarchal mentality by assuming important roles in the military, political and economic fields,” she concluded.
