The approaching winter season and the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic cause people to frequently visit hospitals. As free services are provided in 9 health institutions in Kobanê, new ones are being added to these soon. In this context, the Euphrates Region Health Committee is preparing to open 4 new health centers.
SERVICE BY EXPERT DOCTORS
Specialist doctors work in all clinics in the city. There are 7 to 20 employees in health centers, where there are also women and children clinics. Children are vaccinated on Wednesdays. Medicines for diabetes and heart diseases can also be obtained from clinics. Health centers also have an ambulance service.
Praising the services provided by the health center in Til Xezal, citizen Edole Osman said, "We can come to the health center and get the medicines we need.”
Ammar Ehmed, who is the manager of the health center in Şêran, remarked that before the coronavirus epidemic, an average of 80 patients came to the center daily and received treatment. He said the number of patients receiving daily treatment decreased after the epidemic, as well as the number those coming to the hospital during the quarantine period.
PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT CENTER
The Euphrates Region Health Committee has rolled up its sleeves to open new health institutions in the region. 4 new health centers will be opened in the Euphrates region, including a psychological support center which will have 6 to 9 employees and will also raise awareness of the public by explaining the ways of protection from coronavirus.
Director of Psychological Support Unit Şêran Mihyedin Ehmed stated that not many people would turn to this unit in the first place, yet more are expected to come in due time. Warning that psychological problems cause serious illnesses, he stated that their doors are always open to those who seek support.
Euphrates Region Health Committee Co-Chair Ehmed Mehmûd said the medication problem for the new health centers in Kobanê Canton has been resolved with the help of the Health Committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
