Girê Spî Canton Council: KDP betrays the Kurds

Condemning the KDP’s collaboration with the Turkish state, Girê Spî Canton Council called on the people to oppose the policies of the KDP.

Girê Spî Canton Council made a press statement condemning the collaboration of South Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP with the Turkish state, which “tries to divide Kurdistan and fights the Kurdistan Freedom Movement under the leadership of the Barzani family".

The statement was read by Municipalities Committee Co-Chair Mihemed Derwîş who stated the following: “The betrayal and spying activities of the KDP caused it to be a toy at the hands of the Turkish state. The KDP has allowed the construction of walls built by colonialist states in an attempt to destroy Kurdish unity, as well as the construction of Turkish military bases on South Kurdistan land.”

Referring to the wall built between Rojava (northern Syria) and the Yazidi town of Shengal in South Kurdistan, the statement pointed out that the goal of the wall was to divide Kurdistan into parts and to break the Kurdish people’s will against Hewlêr (Erbil) and the Turkish state.

The Girê Spî Canton Council ended its statement by calling on the people to rise up against the KDP’s policies and its support for the occupying Turkish state.
