The commander of the military council of Girê Spî, Riyad al-Khalaf, reported ongoing attacks on Ain Issa, saying; "It is our right to defend our country.”
The attacks of the Turkish invading forces and their jihadist mercenary troops from the "Syrian National Army" (SNA) on the Ain Issa region in northern Syria have increased since the middle of last week. Ain Issa is located in the south of the occupied region of Girê Spî, where Turkey’s AKP/MHP regime, together with its mercenaries, has established a regime of terror. Ain Issa is bombarded with artillery from the occupied territories on daily basis. In the attacks on Ain Issa, a 13-year-old displaced minor died and a 30-year-old was injured on October 16 when a shell hit the refugee camp.
On October 21, the SNA attempted to advance to Ain Issa with ground troops. The fighters from the Military Council of Girê Spî and the Military Council of Ain Issa stopped the invasion attempt in a three-hour skirmish. Afterwards, the SNA mercenaries left their weapons behind and had to flee. ANHA news agency spoke with the commander of the Military Council of Girê Spî, Riyad al-Khalaf, about the developments.
"A massacre was prevented"
Khalaf said that a massacre was prevented only because of the attention of the fighters of the Military Council who responded to the attack using their right to legitimate self-defense.
"It is our right to defend our country"
"Arab, Kurdish, Turkmen and Armenian fighters are organized in the military council. All peoples are resisting the invasion together. We will continue to defend the region against the occupying forces, this is our main task. We will respond to the attacks on the basis of legitimate self-defense. It is our natural right to defend our country", the commander said.
"They expel the local population"
The crimes committed by these groups in Girê Spî are openly known, said the commander and continued; "They have disrupted the peace and security of the region to bring back the Ottoman Empire. The aim of the attacks is to regain control of the borders of the National Pact. The population attacked here by Turkey had previously lived in peace and quiet. These attacks take place in front of the eyes of the world public. There have been many extrajudicial executions and assassinations. The Turkish state wants to expel the population of the region and settle its mercenaries in their place. It is obvious that these attacks will continue. Meanwhile, civilians are afraid to use the M4 highway".
Khalaf also criticized Russia and the Syrian government for their ignorance of the attacks.
"We will continue to resist for this people"
Khalaf reported an expansion of Turkish military posts on the border between the occupied territories and Ain Issa, adding; "We will not allow the occupation of our villages. The civilian population is under constant attack from their 'observation points'. We are children of this people. We will resist for this people until the last drop of blood".
