HRE announces names of eight fighters martyred during resistance against occupation forces

The Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) announced the names of eight fighters who were martyred during the resistance against Turkish and jihadist occupation attacks in northern Syria.

The Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) announced the identities of eight fighters who were martyred in December 2024 in attacks by the Turkish army and its jihadist mercenaries in Afrin and Shehba.

The HRE statement on Wednesday said: “The HTS and some paramilitary groups launched an operation at the end of November 2024 to overthrow the Baath regime. The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries wanted to take advantage of this operation and carry out massacres against our people in the Sherawa, Shehba and Tel Rifat areas. As is known, the population in this region was mostly people who settled here after the occupation of Afrin in 2018. As our forces defended the population against possible massacres, the people were evacuated to the Cizîrê region via safe routes and the resistance front was protected. On December 1 and 2, the Turkish state and its mercenaries intensified their attacks, resulting in skirmishes between the occupiers and our forces. Eight of our companions fell in the sacrificial fight that lasted two days.”

According to the statement, the fallen fighters, Canfeda, Çiya, Dilşêr, Piling, Ristem, Talal, Zinar Amed and Zinar Efrîn, were from Afrin and Aleppo and joined the HRE after the occupation of Afrin seven years ago.

“They were part of the resistance front against the occupiers, defending their people. With their fight, they have prevented a massacre like the one in Shengal. The fact that the Kurds did not have to experience another tragedy is thanks to the resistance of these heroes. Their sacrifice was essential for our fight against the occupation. They gave us strength with their fight and their lives, and we are proud of them,” said the HRE, which expresses its condolences to the families of the martyrs and to the Kurdish people, and vowed that the fight against the occupiers for a free and safe life for the people will continue.
