YPG fighter Salih Oso, who fell as a martyr while on duty in Sirin on 7 March, was buried by hundreds of people in the Martyr Dicle Cemetery in Kobanê. Hundreds of residents, representatives of the Autonomous Administration and political parties attended the farewell ceremony.
At the ceremony, the identity of Seyid Seyid (Lewend Saloki), who fell as a martyr in the attack carried out by ISIS gangs on Kobanê on 20 March 2014, was announced by the Martyrs' Families Council.
The funeral started with a minute’s silence. Speaking at the ceremony, the co-chair of the Euphrates Self-Defense Forces Command, Nebo Teme, conveyed his condolences to the families of the martyrs and said: "Thanks to the resistance of the martyrs, the struggle of the Kurds resonated in the world."
'We should be vigilant against the enemy’s plans'
Teme stated that more progress should be made in all areas, whether military or political, adding: "We must not allow the enemy to defeat our people with special warfare. We must be alert to the plans of the enemy who wants to divide our society."
Almaz Romi, from the PYD Fırat Women's Office, said: "Everyone should give the martyrs their due. Thanks to our martyrs, we will live in peace and freedom on our land."
Stating that Martyr Salih came from a patriotic family and that he did not hesitate to join the struggle despite his advanced age, Almaz Romi noted that Martyr Lewend also chose the path of freedom and protection of lands from enemies.
"Since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, the Turkish state has been attacking it in different ways. But it has always failed thanks to the solidarity of our people and the struggle of the martyrs," said Kedim Idan, from the Syrian Future Party.
