Representatives of political parties, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), Autonomous Administration, as well as opinion leaders, families of martyrs, members of non-governmental organizations and representatives of the International Coalition attended the workshop held at the Tarfur Hall in Hesekê on Friday.
After a moment of silence, Preparatory Committee Member Ciwan Îso delivered the opening speech. Later, a documentary about the history of the Serêkaniyê region was screened.
SDF General Commander Mazlum Abdi, who attended the workshop online, raised concern over the violations of rights and crimes committed following the occupation of Serêkaniyê.
Three important topics are being discussed in the workshop. The first issue concerns the history and value of Serêkaniyê. The second relates to the crimes and violations of rights in Serêkaniyê, and the third topic addresses the return of immigrants to their lands under the motto ‘We are not going anywhere, we will return to our places’.
The workshop aims to create a political framework that will represent the demands of the people of Serêkaniyê who call for the return of their lands and an end to the occupation.
