Infighting among mercenary groups injures five in “Peace Spring” area

Five “National Army” members injured in “Peace Spring” area after dispute over smuggling route, SOHR reports.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that three members of “Shohadaa Badr” Brigade and two members of “Shohadaa Al-Hasakah” faction were wounded during clashes between the two factions that erupted Saturday night and continued until Sunday morning. The infighting took place in villages in the countryside of Ras Al-Ain/Sere Kaniye in areas controlled by Turkish forces and “National Army” factions in the “Peace Spring” area.

“Meanwhile, the two factions continue to muster and mobilise their forces, as the “20th Division” have intervened to support the “Shohadaa Badr” faction during the conflict between the two factions over smuggling routes to Turkey and revenue sharing,” SOHR stated.

The observatory noted that, over the past few days, the areas controlled by Turkish forces and “National Army” factions in the countryside of Al-Hasakah and Al-Raqqa have seen several conflicts between the various factions over the struggle for imposing influence and for the sharing of revenues of “human smuggling” to and from areas controlled by SDF and to Turkey.

Yesterday, SOHR monitored violent clashes between members of “Shuhadaa Al-Badr” and members of “Shuhadaa Al-Hasakah” in Al-Mokhtala village in Ras Al-Ain “Sere Kanye” countryside, using heavy machine guns and “RPG” shells.

SOHR noted that this took place in light of a dispute over the smuggling road and over-sharing revenues of smuggling checkpoints, and followed the continuous disputes over the past few days among “National Army” factions in Ras Al-Ain city and its countryside.

On April 7, SOHR monitored clashes with machine-guns between Al-Malek Shah and Al-Hamza Divisions, which are affiliated with Turkey, in Tel Helf village in Ras Al-Ain “Sere Kanye” among “Peace Spring” areas in Al-Hasakah countryside, where clashes erupted following disputes over human smuggling to Turkey, however no casualties were reported.

On April 3, a militiaman of the Turkish-backed “National Army” from Suluk city was killed and dumped in Ajilah village in the west of Ras Al-Ain in Al-Hasakah countryside, according to SOHR.
