Internationalist fighters in YPG made a press statement in front of the monument for the internationalist fighters who lost their lives in the Rojava Revolution in Kobanê. The fighters frequently chanted “Long live the YPG resistance”, “Long live the Kurdish people’s resistance” in Kurdish during the statement.

The fighters stated that the six internationalist fighters who were taken by the KDP last week have not been heard from since. The names of the fighters were announced as Callun Ross, Ozkan Ozdil, Fernando Grassa, Justin Schnepp, Damien Rodriguez and Anthony Delgatto.

NO INFORMATION ON FIGHTERS TAKEN BY THE KDP

The internationalist fighters said in the press statement: “ISIS is a global terrorist organization. The Democratic Rojava Revolution, with the forces of YPG and YPJ were able to break the back of this global terror that hadn’t been defeated anywhere else in Kobanê. With Kobanê, we have come to realize that it’s possible to defeat these global terrorists through resistance. During and after Kobanê, hundreds of us have joined this resistance against this global terrorism. As internationalists from different communities in the world, we believed in the Rojava Revolution, and took our place in the struggle.

Since Rojava is surrounded by Turkey in the north and ISIS in the south, our only passage is through the Rojava and Başure Kurdistan border and that is under KDP control. Despite all the difficulties created by the KDP, hundreds of us have joined the struggle. It would have been thousands of us, if it was not for the KDP. The last example took place a week ago, with no information on our six internationalist friends for a week. We know that they were arrested by the KDP, but we are unable to get any information on under which conditions they are being held. We do not even know if they are alive.”

KDP IS PUTTING ITSELF IN ISIS’ SERVICE

The statement included reaction that KDP is putting itelf in ISIS’ service with such practices:

“We believe that such actions do not only target the Rojava Revolution but the democratic struggles of the people and world peace as well, and these will make the KDP serve the interests of global terrorism of ISIS.”

The internationalist fighters made a call to speak up against the practices of the KDP.

“We would like to invite revolutionary organizations, democratic and progressive forces and all those who support the struggle against the global terrorism of ISIS take action against KDP’s internments to suffocate the democracy in Rojava.

All the world should know that the reactionary forces of the KDP are trying to destroy the democratic values created by the Rojava Revolution and the struggle of YPG and YPJ against the global terrorism of ISIS. In the face of such reactionarism, we invite all internationalist revolutionaries to come to Rojava and support the revolution.”
