Is an Autonomous Administration project being established in Suwayda?

Semir Ezam remarked that the Autonomous Administration project, which is one of the people's demands, is about to come to life in Suwayda, stating that he wants the concerns of the people of Suwayda to be addressed as soon as possible.

Protests for political, economic, and service improvements continue in Suwayda, southern Syria.

Syrian opposition politician and Suwayda Secular Democrats Union Coordinator Semir Ezam spoke to ANHA on the issue, stating that the Autonomous Administration project demanded by the people of Suwayda is going to come to life.

THE REASONS FOR THE PROTESTS

Ezam began his speech by addressing the reasons for the Suwayda protests, saying, "The message from Suwayda reached everyone inside and outside the country, as well as all those who support the Suwayda movement from all internal opposition groups. The meetings of Druze leader Şêx Muwefeq Terîf in Russia, Jordan, Italy, and Rome were important. EU officials also supported the Suwayda people's demands."

'AUTONOMOUS ADMINISTRATION IS ABOUT TO COME TO LIFE IN SUWAYDA'

According to Ezam, one of the motivations for the people of Suwayda to take to the streets is to build the framework for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

Regarding the Autonomous Administration demand of the people of Suwayda, Semir Ezam said: "This project has been requested to come to life. The people of Suwayda demand the Autonomous Administration to be established until a permanent solution to the Syrian crisis is found. Damascus is powerless to intervene. It has been in a financial crisis from its beginning and has attempted to impose greater taxes and raise basic food costs as well as attempting to hike fuel prices."

Ezam linked the centralization of the state and the non-development of the economy outside Damascus and Aleppo to the distorted laws of the central state. He stated that the only solution for the balanced and sustainable development of Syrian provinces and regions is the autonomous administration project, similar to the economy in Europe, America, Asia, and the UAE.

Ezam called on the Damascus regime to listen to the people's requests, saying that the protests will continue until a solution to the demonstrators' demands is found.
