Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration Executive Council co-chair, Riyad El Hefel, said that the international community should support the Autonomous Administration, which carries all the burden of ISIS mercenaries, and added that in fact, instead of support them, the opposite was done and that Northern and Eastern Syria is subjected to a strict embargo from all sides.
Riyadh El Hefel told ANHA: "The closure of the Til Koçer Border Gate is the most concrete example of this."
El Hefel asked "why don't states accept gangs that are their own citizens, and underlined the need of establishing an international court to prosecute ISIS mercenaries.”
El Hefel said that they have repeatedly called on states to put ISIS on trial. “No state has so far answered to our calls. The establishment of an international court in Northern and Eastern Syria could not be achieved. Account for the crimes committed by ISIS mercenaries has not yet been asked. This problem is not only a problem of the Autonomous Administration. All states in the world are responsible for the prosecution of ISIS.”
Drawing attention to the invasion attacks of the Turkish state, El Hefel said: “The Turkish state and its mercenaries are constantly bombing the borders. Turkey is trying to ensure that ISIS mercenaries escape from prison. This is the aim of the attacks to prisons where the mercenaries are held.”
El Hefel called on the international community and the UN Security Council to act quickly and take decisions over the handling of the mercenaries.
