ISIS terrorist leader captured in Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside

SDF reaffirms their commitment to dismantling ISIS cells, targeting its infrastructure and support networks, cutting off its material and ideological resources, and safeguarding the security and stability of the region under all circumstances.

On May 2, Friday, the Military Operations Teams (TOL) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with support from the International Coalition, conducted a precise and targeted security operation in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, targeting a high-ranking leader of the terrorist organization ISIS named Hamoud Abdullah al-Khatib, aka Abu Zakaria.

In a statement about the operation, the SDF Press Center said: “The terrorist, Abdullah, served as the so-called “emir” of an ISIS cell operating in the economic sector. He extorted money from civilians at gunpoint under the pretense of collecting “zakat,” and threatening those who refused with death.”

Based on accurate intelligence and close surveillance, SDF forces tracked the movements of the terrorist, identified his location, and successfully encircled and captured him, and sized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including:

-40 RPG warheads

-1 LAW anti-tank weapon

-2 hand grenades

-13 ammo can of AKC
