KCK condemns the massacre of a family in Kobane, calls for action against Turkey’s crimes

KCK stated that the Turkish state, which does not want the problems in Syria to be solved, is the reason why the problems in Syria remain unsolved and why the conflict and war continue.

The Co-Presidency of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council released a statement condemning the massacre of a family of nine as a result of a Turkish aerial attack on a house in the village of Berxbotan in Kobane, northern Syria. Seven children and their parents were killed in the attack, which two other members of the family survived with injuries.

The KCK statement on Tuesday includes the following:

“Nine members of a family, including seven children, from the village of Berxbotan near Kobane have lost their lives as a result of a Turkish airstrike. While strongly condemning this cowardly and despicable attack, we honor those who lost their lives in the attack, offer our condolences to our people, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. This attack has caused great sadness and anger among us and all Kurdish people. This massacre is another crime against humanity committed by the Turkish state. How can one deliberately attack a family? It is almost impossible to find the appropriate words to describe a human being who is capable of such an atrocious act. This is the result of an inhuman, dark mentality. One searches in vain for morality and conscience. Kurdish enmity has brought out the worst in the Turkish state, made it blind, and turned it into a true monster.

The village of Berxbotan, where the attack took place, was previously targeted by the mercenaries of ISIS. Now it is the Turkish state itself that has committed this new massacre. It is of great importance to reveal what kind of plan the Turkish state is pursuing. It is clear from every move that the Turkish state wants to complete the plan left unfinished by ISIS.

The Turkish state’s refusal to take responsibility for the massacre after this attack was publicized and when there was some reaction against it is a complete deception. The Turkish state has been attacking North and East Syria and committing massacres for a long time. There is not a single day when it does not pursue new attacks, when it does not murder people. They themselves have openly admitted that they will hit and attack everywhere. After the fall of the Baath regime in Syria, they have increased their attacks even more. The Turkish state does not want the problems in Syria to be solved and Syria to reach a democratic system where all its differences can live together and co-exist. The Turkish state is the reason why the problems in Syria remain unsolved and why the conflict and war continue.

Against these inhumane attacks and massacres of the Turkish state, all peoples, especially our people, as well as all democratic, socialist forces and our international friends, should take to the streets and clearly express their condemnation. The silence of states and responsible institutions, especially the UN, in the face of the crimes against humanity committed by the Turkish state is unacceptable. Maintaining this silence means complicity in the crimes and massacres. This attitude must be changed, and a stand must be taken against the crimes committed by the Turkish state.”
