Kurds are taking to the streets all around the world to salute the guerrilla resistance against Turkish invasion.
Residents of the Qine district of Kobane city staged a march on Saturday under the motto “No to massacre and a new plot”. The protest action promoted by the Qine District Council protested against the Turkish military offensive seeking to occupy the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
Members of Democratic Union Party (PYD) and representatives of civil society organizations joined the march in addition to residents. Displaying images of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, the crowd chanted slogans saluting the resistance of Öcalan on Imrali and the resistance of the guerrilla in the mountains.
The march was followed by a rally in the village of Hemidaş where Qine District Council Co-president Suad Elemdar addressed the crowd. Elemdar stressed that fighters of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement have been fighting in the mountains for 44 years in order that the Kurds lead an honorable life.
Remarking that Kurdish leader Öcalan has not let the Turkey and other states shatter the Kurdish revolution, he continued, “Banned weapons have been used in the war against the guerrilla. Yet, the occupiers will fail thanks to the resistance of the Kurdish people and the guerrilla.”
