Kongra Star condemns international silence towards 'Turkish state terrorism'

Kongra Star reacted to the international silence towards Turkish use of chemical weapons against guerrilla troops in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Kongra Star released a statement condemning Turkey’s ongoing chemical attacks in the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones.

“As the policies of genocide and destruction against the Kurdish people continue, the HPG (People’s Defense Forces) is resisting the inhuman attacks of the fascist Turkish state in the Medya Defence Zones. The historic resistance of our forces frightens the Turkish state, an enemy of humanity. That's why the Turkish state is trying to break the resistance through the use of banned and chemical weapons,” Kongra Star said.

The statement continued: “Turkey's terrorist fascist mentality has committed yet another crime against our people in Kurdistan and the people of the entire region in front of the international community. This isn't the first offense to cross the red line.”

The statement emphasized that the regional powers and the international community should correctly understand the Kurdish question as a historical fact and regard the Kurds as a reliable actor in determining the future of the region.

Remarking that the Kurdish people’s legitimate demands should be met, Kongra Star said: “The international powers and the international community should accept the fact that the Kurdish people's struggle against the occupation plans of the New Ottoman Empire (Turkey) is for the benefit of the peoples of the region. The UN and the international community are responsible for Turkish state terrorism. Their silence and intimidation of this terror manifest their partnership. An international stance must be taken against Turkey, and its hostility towards our people must be stopped. The practices of the Turkish regime are in defiance of international, humanitarian and human rights law.”

Kongra Star called on all national and political forces in Kurdistan to mobilize for the protection of the Kurdish people and their achievements, and to expand the struggle based on the principles of revolutionary people's war.
