Hundreds of thousands of people from the region fled after the Turkish military invasion of Afrin. A large part went to the neighboring canton of Shehba, where several camps were built on their own and without the support of international relief organizations.
At Camp Serdem, a library has been set up by the Union of Intellectuals from Afrin after weeks of preparation. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) and other institutions.
The public library has more than 2000 books in Kurdish, Arabic and English.
