Manbij Military Council releases names of six fighters martyred in Turkish attacks

The Manbij Military Council published the identity information of six fighters who were martyred by Turkish state drone attacks in northern Syria on Wednesday.

In a written statement on Thursday, the Manbij Military Council (MMC) released the identity information of the six fighters who were martyred in drone attacks by the Turkish state on June 14. The fallen fighters were identified as Ahmed Muhammad, Abdul Karim Yunus Obaid, Abdullah Hassan Ibrahim, Mustafa Khalil Darwish, Mustafa Sharif Al-Abdullah and Welat Nabo Muhammad.

Welat Nabo Muhammad died on Tuesday evening in an air strike on a guard post in the village of Dirric (Al-Daraj), east of Manbij. The other five fighters lost their lives on Wednesday. They were on their way to the village of Dendendiyê (Al-Dandaniya) to evacuate two youths who had been injured shortly before as a result of a Turkish artillery attack, when their vehicle was hit by a combat drone. A sixth member of the unit survived the attack.

While escalating  its attacks on North and East Syria with aircraft and heavy weapons, the Turkish state has also intensified its attacks on the region of Shehba which houses IDPs from Afrin, said the Manbij Military Council.

Abdullah Hassan Ibrahim and Welat Nabo Muhammad had only recently joined the Manbij Military Council, the other martyrs were experienced fighters. They had belonged to the affiliate of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for years and participated in almost all offensives against ISIS.

Offering its condolences to the families of the fallen fighters, Manbij Military Council vowed to confront the attacks of the invading Turkish state and allied mercenaries and to avenge the martyrs.

For days, Turkey has been intensifying its belligerent aggression against the region of North and East Syria. According to a preliminary assessment, at least 16 people have been killed and 19 others injured in the past two days in numerous drone attacks and artillery bombardments in regions such as Manbij, Afrin, Shehba and Qamishlo. With nine dead and ten injured soldiers, Damascus recorded the most casualties, followed by the Manbij Military Council, which suffered six casualties as well as several wounded members. In the region, a civilian was also killed in a drone strike on his house.
