Martyr Berçem Academy to develop the Democratic Nation principles

The Martyr Berçem Academy, in the town of Dirbêsiyê, became the training center of the region to learn about the common living and democratic nation principles.
The Martyr Berçem Democratic Society Academy opened in Dirbêsiyê, in the province of Hesekê, in 2013.
Each month training and education sessions are organised. So far 43 of these education session have been successfully completed.
The training sessions have been followed by communes and democratic autonomous members.
The last education session was named after Martyr Yilmaz and is still going on.
Every education session sees the participation of 25 people who attend the course for 25 days.
Classes in science, natural society, diction, history, Kurdish geography, patriotic consciousness, commanding reality, Rojava Revolution, democratic nation, self-defense, comradeship, jineology, are given using the method of self-criticism.
The period of education also includes seminars and documentary as well as individual training times.
The academy executives recalled that at the beginning the participation in the academy the program was low, due to the repression and attacks by regime forces. Now, instead, participation is ever growing and this increased especially after the development of the Rojava revolution.
"We want to overcome the mentality that the dominant system imposes, also through the trainings given at the academy”, said Neha Ehmê, an academy executive, to ANHA.
Education under the regime, she said, was state-interests oriented and this is what the Democratic Autonomy model has changed.
Emar al-Ewashî, who participated in the training session, said the course offered the possibility to understand the importance of common life of people.
Al-Ewashî said: “Communitarian life is possible without racial and religious differences”.
