SDF Commander General Mazlum Abdi received Deputy U.S. Special Envoy to Syria David Brownstein on Sunday.
The deputy U.S. special envoy to Syria, David Brownstein, arrived in northeast Syria on Sunday for talks. The diplomat was received in Hesekê by the Commander General of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi.
Following the meeting, Abdi wrote on Twitter: "I am honored to welcome Deputy U.S. Special Envoy Mr. David Brownstein. We share a common vision of a future in which all Syrians enjoy peace and freedom. We look forward to working with all our Syrian brothers to overcome common challenges and achieve this goal.”
A week ago, the former US Special Envoy to Syria, James Jeffrey, announced his resignation. The US diplomat has served in his career as ambassador to Ankara and is considered an Erdogan lobbyist. In the meantime, Jeffrey's deputy Joel Rayburn has been appointed as the new US envoy.
