Mercenaries clash with people, kidnap 20 in Afrin

Clashes erupted in the village of Sagir Ubasi between mercenaries of Sultan Murat group and the people resettled there.

After the invasion of Afrin by the occupying Turkish state and its mercenary allies and after the transfer of mercenaries and their families from places such as Ghouta and Azaz to occupy the house of the people of Afrin, repression and clashes continue.

It was reported that last night (Sunday), at around 8.45 pm, clashes erupted in the village of Sagir Ubasi in Bilbile district between the Sultan Murat mercenaries and those who had settled in the village.

Local sources indicated that fighting erupted after Sultan Murat mercenaries harassed families who had been resettled in the village.

The people living in Sagir Ubasi village have complained for a long time about the theft and repression perpetrated by the mercenaries of Sultan Murat.

The people first applied to the ‘council’ established in Afrin and then to the one in Azaz, but in vain.

Local sources said that clashes erupted after the people had complained to the Council. Accordingly, people in the village responded to the repression with arms on Sunday, resulting in clashes with Sultan Murat gangs.

After the deployment of occupation forces in the village, Turkish forces and allied mercenaries kidnapped at least 20 people, including Saleh Battal, who had been named village mukhtar.
