The Manbij Military Council issued a statement and expressed its condolences to all the people of Rojava and Northern Syria, particularly the inhabitants of Manbij and the family of Martyr Abu Amjad.

The statement by Manbij Military Council is as follows:

"All the peoples of Rojava-Northern Syria and especially the city Manbij have heard the sad news of the martyrdom of the Manbij Military Council Commander General Adnan Abu Amjad while fighting against terrorism in Raqqa together with his comrades. Martyr Adnan Abu Amjad was known among his friends and community for his heroism, altruism and humbleness. Abu Amjad never abstained from pursuing freedom and enhancing the struggle, and he always followed the path of his comrades until he himself fell a martyr.

Commander Abu Amjad did not accept the oppression and persecution imposed on his people. He was fighting in the front lines against the dictatorship since the very beginning of the Syrian crisis. He fought in Aleppo against the regime and the traces of his resistance and heroism in Kiwîris region are still alive. Later he headed for whole of Syria and partook in the battle of Al-Qesîr. He supported also the revolutionaries of the Jabhat al-Akrad and was one of the founders of the Jabhat al-Akrad in Aleppo city. Together with his comrade Abu Layla he went from Manbij to Kobanê and took a heroic position in the historic resistance of Kobanê alongside his comrades.

To end the terror once and for all, the hero Abu Amjad never stepped back and headed from Kobanê to the battles for Girê Spî, Ayn Îsa, Sirîn, Shaddadi, Haql and the Tishrin Dam and raised the flag of victory in his hometown Manbij. He promised his comrades from the Manbij Military Council to fight the terror in Tabqa and Raqqa. He was at the same time a founding member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Abu Amjad, who lit up history together with his companions and strived for putting an end to the darkness Raqqa was shrouded in, fell a martyr in this cause in the neighbourhoods of Raqqa.

We, the comrades of Commander Abu Amjad in the Manbij Military Council, express our condolences to our institution, to our people in Rojava and Northern Syria and in particular to his family and the people of Manbij. We promise our people that we will continue the path, morality and heroism of Martyr Commander Abu Amjad against terrorism.

Hero Adnan Abu Amjad is immortal."
