Mothers of guerrillas and martyrs issue call for Yazidi community

This week’s demonstrations by the families of guerrillas and martyrs in Rojava took place in Tirbespiyê and Dirbêsiyê districts of Qamishlo and Hesekê.

Families of guerrillas and martyrs who continuing their protests in its 5th week, issued a call for the Yazidi community and stated that the people of Shengal must determine their own destiny.

The families who have carried out this week’s demonstrations in Tirbespiyê and Dirbêsiyê districts of Qamishlo and Hesekê cantons made a press release.

The press statement was read by Ciwana Mihemmed, member of Tirbespiyê Martyrs' Families Council, who said; “The ruling forces seek to eliminate the existence of Shengal’s people who have a history of thousands of years and have stood against attacks and massacres. When ISIS gangs attacked the Shengal region, the Southern Kurdistan government and the Iraqi army left the people. Yet, the fighters of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement resisted and protected the people.”

The statement underlined that the people of Shengal must determine their own fate and that the Turkish state's plans against Shengal’s people should be rejected.

Dozens of guerrilla mothers came together in the Martyr Zevîn Park in Dirbesiye to protest the attacks of the invading Turkish state and its gangs against Northern and Eastern Syria and Heftanin.

Speaking on behalf of the guerrilla mothers, Leyla Bekir condemned Turkey attacks on the Medya Defense Zones as well as North and East Syria, and the silence of the international community against the attacks of the invading Turkish state and its gangs. Bekir stressed that the Kurdish people should form a unity in the face of these attacks and called for further resistance and struggle.
