The people of Qamishlo went on hunger strike two days ago to support the resistance launched by Kongreya Star.
The hunger strike, organized under the motto “We will break isolation with the spirit of the prison resistance” was joined by 75 people in the first day of action.
On Tuesday the action was taken over by 51 women of a total of 86 people coming from the West district of Qamishlo.
The tent where the action is taking place has been decorated with the photos of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven, as well flags of Kongreya Star, SDF, YPG and YPJ.
In the tent a video was shown on the resistance in Diyarbakır prison.
Cebahir Osman, a member of the Syria Democratic Council (MSD) Women's Office commended the action and pointed out that Leyla Güven is continuing the resistance initiated by Mazlum Dogan and his friends in the great history of Kurdish resistance struggle.
Osman added that isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan must end. “Kurds are a struggling people and will resist until the leadership is freed.”
Kongreya Star Eastern Province executive, Semire Hesen, commended Leyla Güven and her hunger strike and pledged support to her struggle.
After the speeches, poet Ferhat Merdê read some of his poems to the participants.
The hunger strikers in Qamishlo are visited by many people and friends.
