Infrastructure and sewer networks are a priority to get cities and towns back on their feet.
The People’s Municipality of Til Koçer in Qamishlo Canton has speeded up its infrastructure works.
Til Koçer district was especially overlooked in terms of municipal services. The infrastructure of the area was nearly completely destroyed by the DAESH (ISIS) mercenaries.
When Til Koçer was under the control of DAESH mercenaries, all the bridges were destroyed in an attempt to stop the advances of the Kurdish People’s and Women’s Defense Units (YPG/YPJ).
After the liberation of the town by the YPG/YPJ, residents began going back to normal, and recover after the great sufferance and distress they had lived.
District residents were able to use the only solid bridge in the south of the city that had been spared by DAESH, while all other bridges had been destroyed.
The municipality has prepared a project worth 23 million Syrian Lira (SL) to provide a solution to this infrastructure problem.
Work repairs on the bridge south of the canton have begun following a request from the villages of Taş Xerbi and Taş Şarki. This bridge was severely damaged by recent flood.
On the other side, the Municipality has also cleaned up the debris of war in the area and has designated trees areas.
New sewer networks
A crucial place in the new projects drawn up by the People’s Municipality has been granted to district and village sewer networks.
The 375-meter sewer network at the Martyr Demhat Commune has already been repaired. The work cost 15 million SL. This project will serve 240 people.
Following a request from the al-Mehmudiya villagers, the Municipality closed some sewerage wells considered life-threatening and a possible source of diseases.
The Municipality's committees and units continue to work at a fast pace. The garbage collection unit continues to operate efficiently.
Municipal police teams are controlling prices in the area, and products’ expiration dates to prevent old products from being sold in the markets.
Ebid Salih El-Miflih, of Til Koçer People's Municipality, confirmed that they have started a large number of projects and are providing the necessary infrastructure for their realization.
