Newaf Xelîl, a patriot from Rojava, said that the struggle of the PKK and Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan did what was said to be impossible in the history of Kurdistan.
Newaf Xelîl, a patriot from Rojava, said that the force that will lead Kurds to freedom is the PKK, and said: "Meeting the PKK gives people confidence."
Newaf Xelîl told ANF about his meeting with the Kurdish Freedom Movement. Xelîl said: "We were in Tirbespiyê. There was a student group. Among them was a friend named Xebat. Then he fell a martyr. The students were interpreting the words of their friends for us on Fridays. We were with the KDP before. Thanks to these students, the Apoist idea entered our house in 1988. A young man who worked in Damascus between 1986 and 1987 came to our village and talked about the North Kurdistan revolution and Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], saying that he would save the Kurds. Thus, although we did not have much information, our sympathy developed."
Saying that they went to Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan on the occasion of the PKK's founding anniversary in November 1997 and they were very impressed, Xelîl continued: "The arrival of Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK in Syria had a great impact. We understood what patriotism is. The people took care of themselves more than ever. Many young people joined the ranks of the revolution and fell as martyrs. A sense of Kurdishness has developed, embracing all Kurds. Rojava became the front of the North Kurdistan revolution."
Different from any other
Xelîl said: "The PKK was not limited to North Kurdistan. It has spread to all parts of Kurdistan and all over the world. The PKK showed the reality of history and Kurdish society. It taught the Kurds how to reclaim their existence. Those who have not known the PKK until now should approach it. It is this movement that will lead the Kurds to freedom. Knowing the PKK gives people confidence."
