The suffering of Serêkaniyê IDPs in Til Temir district increases with the onset of winter, in light of the failure of the NGOs to provide assistance under the pretext that it is a military zone.
With the advent of winter in the northeast Syria regions, the suffering of IDPs in Til Temir (Tal Tamr) and its neighboring villages in schools and camps increased.
More than 1,200 displaced families in Til Temir district of Heseke canton reside in shelters and villages in the district.
Due to the proximity of the area to the front lines, humanitarian organizations consider the area a military zone, which exacerbates the suffering of the displaced due to the lack of aid.
Some of the displaced people spoke to ANHA (Hawar News Agency) about their suffering after the invasion of their lands by the Turkish state and allied gangs.
Ghazala Ahmed, from the village of Al-Arisha, says, "We left our homes when the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries bombed the city of Serêkaniyê. Our destination was Til Temir and lived in its schools."
Ahmed added, "At the beginning, we used to receive aid well, but for nearly 9 months, there was no longer assistance; no organization came to help us."
Ahmed continued "Our village, Arisha is famous for the violations that took place in it, and the mercenaries' theft of all civilian property and homes, so we can no longer return to it."
Ahmed explained their suffering in light of the winter, saying, "We entered the winter with young children, and we need heaters, diesel and assistance, and we appeal to international organizations and concerned authorities to provide assistance to us and to send doctors to examine the children in the shelters."
The displaced people have not received aid since March of this year, and aid was limited to the baskets provided by the Red Cross.
For her part, Zahrat Al-Afdal says, "We need heaters and diesel fuel because we have entered the winter and have young children."
Al-Afdal noted that they want to return to their city, saying, "We want to return to our homes and expel the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."
Concerning lack of NGO presence in Til Temir, Khalil Khelo, the administrator in the organizations ’affairs in the district, said that the organizations consider the area a military zone.
Khelo indicated that the Til Temir area is home to more than 1,200 displaced families, "and when we ask the aid organizations, they respond that the area is a military zone and they cannot enter it.”
