The Press Office of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement announcing the balance sheet of battle for the past 24 hours in the last phase of the Operation Cizire Storm, dubbed the campaign “defeat terrorism”, which was launched to the east of the Euphrates on September 11.
The statement reads as follows;
“Al-Bagouz Front/ Al-Shajil village:
Sporadic engagement occurred on this front yesterday evening. During the fighting here, the terrorists used medium weapons, while the coalition Air Force carried out an air strike targeting the positions of mercenaries.
On a parallel axis, opposite Hajin city, our forces engaged in clashes with terrorists. While the terrorists fled, the number of those killed or wounded couldn’t be determined. One of the mercenaries left behind a 12.5- machine gun with quantities of ammunition.
This morning, our forces continued their advance in the vicinity of Al-Baguoz and established new defense positions. In parallel with their advance, our special units continued searching and clearing mines, and defused 30.
After a detection of vehicle activity of the mercenaries, coalition aircraft carried out a raid on a military vehicle of the terrorists and destroyed it completely. On the other hand, our forces destroyed a DShK machine gun of the mercenaries.
During their ongoing efforts to clear the areas they have liberated, our forces confiscated individual arms and ammunition belonging to the gangs.
Sousse Front:
This axis witnessed intermittent clashes from last night to this morning.
Following a confrontation in the evening hours, our forces advanced 1 km and took control of many locations where mercenaries had been stationed.
Mines laid by terrorists in abundance were a real challenge for our troops. Dozens of mines were defused as result of efforts by our special units.
Our forces tracked the movements of terrorists and confirmed the killing of three of them.
The coalition aircraft carried out four raids, leading to the destruction of a tunnel of terrorists, killing 8 of them.
The outcome of engagement and clashes on all axes:
An area of 2 km long and 1.5 km wide- 2.7 square kilometers in total- has been liberated from the terrorists.
