Over 100 ISIS detainees handed over to Iraq

The Syrian Democratic Forces have handed over a hundred ISIS prisoners with Iraqi citizenship to the authorities in Baghdad.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have handed over one hundred detained members of ISIS to Iraq. They are all Iraqi nationals, the SDF Press Office announced on Saturday.

The ISIS members had been detained in the course of the liberation offensive "Cizîrê Storm", the final assault on ISIS in eastern Syria. Their handover took place on the basis of an agreement between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Iraqi government.

A large number of the ISIS prisoners who are now transferred to the Iraqi justice system were held in Sina prison in Hesekê where there are repeated riots and uprisings. At the beginning of November, security forces of the Autonomous Administration succeeded in preventing a liberation operation for ISIS jihadists in Sina prison. The cell was excavated and a huge arsenal of weapons was seized.
